The emblematic Usumacinta River crosses the municipality in its entire length, forming the islands of Montserrat and Chinal, a gift of nature that you can only find in Tabasco.

The Usumacinta River has a length of 1123 km and is the largest river in Mexico and Central America.

From this part of the river that crosses Jonuta, the Chico and San Antonio rivers flow to the left, the waters of these rivers flow into the Gulf of Mexico.

Visit the most important lagoons of the municipality, such as El Pital, La Sombra and El Atascadero, where you will learn more about the endemic species of the region, and enjoy a delicious Tabasco style meal.

Sport fishing in Jonuta is unparalleled. You can fish for snook and tarpon all year round, you can also fish for machaca, crappie, gir and bobo. The main type of fishing is marine and river fishing.

By air arriving to the capital of Tabasco, Villahermosa. Villahermosa International Airport receives daily flights from Houston, Texas; Mexico City; Tampico, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tuxtla Gutierrez, Cd. del Carmen, Merida, Cancun and Havana, Cuba. These flights are operated by the main airlines.

The travel time between Villahermosa and the municipality is 2 h 14 min (160.6 km) by Villahermosa - Chetumal/Mexico 186 and Zapatero - T. C. (Jalapa - Jonuta).
