In the south of the state of Campeche, in the middle of the tropical jungle, is the town of Candelaria. It is crossed by the largest river in the region, which also bears the name of Candelaria.
The Candelaria River has a length of 402 kilometers and is the largest river in Campeche. The rive is characterized by the large number of waterfalls that arise from its flow, among which the Salto Muerto, Salto Grande and Salto Toro stand out.
Candelaria River originates in Guatemala, in the Petén, and runs along the border between the two countries. It flows into the Panlao Lagoon, which is connected to the Laguna de Términos. In addition, is navigable almost all the way and, most importantly, is perfect for sport fishing.

Sport fishing in the Candelaria River is varied, the most popular species are snook, carp, tarpon, macahuil, tenhuayaca (a kind of large-mouthed crappie), among others.

You can arrive in two ways: The first via the Campeche International Airport. Then by road with a duration of 3 h 21 min (237.3 km) by Champoton-Escarcega and Villahermosa - Chetumal/Mexico 186.
And the second way through the International Airport of Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche. Then by road with a duration of 3 h 2 min (203.4 km) by Sabancuy - Escarcega/Mexico 259.
